Not all of those who live in Venice, WORK in Venice, which is why these "on the way home"  happy hours are so very important.
Just in time for summer, the Standard Hollywood ( not Downtown, damn it Dina!) has kicked off a new weekday happy hour, which should keep me occupied until the Getty starts up their heartbreakingly easy " Fridays Off the 405".
Monday- Friday 5:00-7:00 1/2 price apps and drinks, POOLSIDE.
So go get sauced at sundown to ease the pain of the (rest of ) commute home, or stroll over to the Mondrian's Sky Bar and have a laugh at all the Try- Hards strutting and puffing in true LA style.

Updates can be few and far between, as although I love a bit of happy hour, a girl has got to work, study, and do a little upward facing dog every day! No matter, here's the scoop on what's been up. REWIND.Strange Invisible Perfumes premiered a new fragrance tonight, called Fire & Cream, with (free)cocktails to boot. Although priced against the gold standard, if a roaring fire and egg nog don't get you a boyfriend by New Years, this fragrance will. GO and sniff. REWIND.
Bar Copa. Saturday night. Can't say there were any drink specials, but the DJ had lighting speed with some of the unlikeliest tunes you've ever loved, kept us sweating and ordering bottles of cheap chard all night. Recommended.
REWIND. Canal Club, Wednesday with Chi Chi and the Queen of Nice, enjoying Sake-To-Me Wednesday like it was the last on earth. Good rolls, good service, good company, good times.
REWIND. Last but not least, Abbot Kinney afterburner for those of us who work on the street.

Hungry, Thirsty, ten minutes to  seven on a Saturday night. Kamikaze Happy Hour run to Venice, escaping the 102 degree heat in West Hollywood. Drop Sara off at Nikki and zoom around for a parking spot. Pro-style she rocks up to the bar and orders just under the cut off time.

You may have had a DRI, but you may not have known it was a DRI:
Drinking Related Injury.  Often times  you just wake up with them, and don't know where they've come from. Lucky for me ( I guess ) this was not the case.

Can I just say...
Wow, the Other Room really has some dangerous chairs!!!Mean, sharp, metal, slightly pitched forward so that you feel like you're falling out ALL THE TIME! Sara and I complain consistently.
Let me preface this by saying that when this DRI occured, I hadn't even had a glass of cheap pinot grigio yet. Just arriving, I leaned down to hook my purse under the bar at the other room- and cracked my forehead- dead-center bindi-style on the bar chair in front of me, just  as the dude sitting in it swung around. Oh ouch.....cha!
Bleeding, at the other room. Headache, yes. Embarassment, yes. DRI- still healing. Gotta keep those  bangs flat ironed for at least another few days!
