I really can't blame High, the rooftop bar at the Hotel Erwin, for not having a Happy Hour. With a flawless view of Venice beach and perfect Sunsets, it's Happy Hour 24/7 up there. Granted, I would be HAPPIER if they opened at 11:30 on Saturday, so I could park myself in the sun and host a revolving stream of locals as the day unfolded, but alas, they open at 3:00 on the weekends. Last night I pink-biked it over to High around ten and met a long lost friend for a little night cap. Drinks aren't cheap- but the price does include raging heat lamps, super-cool glow-in-the-dark illuminated menus, and a big ol' spa blanket if you get chilly from the ocean breeze. Tom & Tiffany keep that ship running tight and the servers are often as quick as they are cute, although the crowd can vasilate from the chic to the loudly mis-behaved. Last night, the company and the night were divine, leavng me High indeed... I recommend for splurge!
Due to the "economy" (snore) I have watched almost all of my friends either lose their jobs, hang on to the job they have/hate with all ten fingers and toes, or launch into a new adventure. We may all be poor, but what we do still love is a cold drink, warm conversation, a cute bartender and a little something to snack on. Here's to us, the economically disabled but the fun enabled.
