oh F*#k, another TRUCK 06/02/2010
Holy crap. I have REALLY been trying to resist WRITING ABOUT F*#$ING FOOD TRUCKS because EVERYONE does and its getting so banal. SUM: There are food trucks in LA, they have plentiful calories to ruin your bikini body, they will find you. BUT: They have been known to make a mess, take your street parking, and steal business from local restaurants. FIN. Two food trucks pulled into my email driveway this morning and I am going to disgust myself and mention them. Okay- hold my hair, here we go. I Heart Fruit Truck: Will be stationed on AK near SA on the weekends. Why do I like it? 1. Fruit keeps you skinny, pretty and healthy. 2. If you run out of cocktail garnish or sangria ingredients, VIOLA!, just run down to the cart! ASIDE ( it also reminds me of my favorite line from Pretty Woman where those two tramps are in the bar and trashy sweet Kit is eating from the bartenders garnish container and he says " Kit, this is not a buffet" or something along those lines.) Familia Camarena Tequila Taco Truck: In another moment of marketing wizardry, and servicing the summer beach crowds' relentless pursuit of tequila... this tequila company is serving up tacos infused with tequila. They are also promising " tequila tastings" but not sure how they are going to execute that ... so... see you on the curb I guess!(?) Add Comment I was so well behaved this weekend until Sunday... The Nice Queen and I were dedicated to being detoxifyingly healthy , going to the Korean Spa to get our bodies steamed and our souls scrubbed by surly women in black underwear but then...THE SUN CAME OUT. Foiled everything. We, er, went to the pool at the Viceroy instead and played human solar panels for a few hours, while splashing around in a couple of drinks. We could have stopped there. We should have stopped there. Instead, we stopped at Lula Mexicana where we triangulated with ChiChi for Sunday Happy Hour. I know I ordered at least 4 glasses of Chard, but I am not sure how many ended up getting knocked over ( thanks goodness I was still wearing my bikini!). Lula was kinda packed with like-minded Sunday Sippers being waited on by some of the cutest cheeriest staff- evidentially- they love drunk people here!!! Atop the bar in a giant glossy glass container, Temptation presented itself in a new form: Strawberry-infused tequila. According to the adorable man who was alternately bringing us drinks and mopping them up- it wasn't ready ye t “Come back on Tuesday" ( Really, you want us back here?) but since Chi would be gone to Milano...he snuck us out a few berries to suck on. Incrediblé. So today is Tuesday….anyone want to guess where I’m headed? Sunday at Lula is la bomba... Friday Night is gonna be alright! 11/20/2009
The South end of Abbot Kinney is going to be party central tonight: and get ready to compose 2 new emails, as they both require you to RSVP. You Can't Stop the Pop Up Shop trend! Like the ever growing swarm of food trucks, Abbot Kinney is fertile ground for Pop Up Shops. Tom's is LONG GONE folks, but just in time to freshen you up for the holidays: HINT MINT has set up shop in the cool little eco-box at 1650 Abbot Kinney. Friday night is "Drinking & Drawing with Gary Baseman" Now I'm not quite clear what Gary, Mints, Alcohol and Drawing have to do with each other- but I am happy to sample their Blue Ice Vodka and find out. Get the hint/RSVP! NEXT! The boys across the street at The Stronghold are usually up to SOMETHING (marching, selling jeans, posing in the doorway, talking on the phone while marching, marching in jeans)...but tonight it's for a good cause. A $12 donation gets you in to see some local music, a screening of the documentary FLOW, and the chance to belly up to the JLP Tequila & Mellow bar. All proceeds will go to SYRV & Laguna Project to build the Jiquilillo Community Center in Nicaragua that will hold a community water purifier station, library, computer lab, sewing stations and organic garden. Get a strong hold on your place in line and RSVP So...I'll see you on the street, feel free to get back to me on how your night went. | TWITTER: VeniceHappyHrJOIN ME ON THE BOOK OF FACE
