I met some friends at Canal Club last night, for their famous , all-star, Hall of Fame, damn- I- love-it-, Sake-To-Me-Wednesdays. You know there is an elevated tiki hut in the middle of this place right? I threw my birthday dinner up there last year- and let me tell you, it gets HOT! Bikram hot. If I ever do that again, it will be bikini dress code and ice packs for everyone. Consider yourself warned. Anyway...Happy Hour. My usual=giant bottle of sake (to share) (maybe) + STST roll+ spicy tuna roll + edamame(to share)= $26.50. NICE PRICE : full tummy, tipsey bike ride home, sayonara Hump Day. BUT last night was double happiness, as we had DD with us, who is not only outrageously tan & beautiful from her recent trip to Greece, she's Japanese-Hawaiian. What this means to me, her husband John and my friend MT is that we don't have to order anything, as the sushi expert just takes control and we sit back and enjoy. We were treated to mounds of sushi, so many I can't remember the names, each one a delish little party in a roll. Another great Venice evening, all wrapped up.
Due to the "economy" (snore) I have watched almost all of my friends either lose their jobs, hang on to the job they have/hate with all ten fingers and toes, or launch into a new adventure. We may all be poor, but what we do still love is a cold drink, warm conversation, a cute bartender and a little something to snack on. Here's to us, the economically disabled but the fun enabled.
