I finally went to Oscars on Rose! I was grouching about their lack of Happy Hour just two weeks ago, and viola! Happy Hour appears!  I like to think that is the power of Venice Happy Hour, or maybe it's just sign of a business getting into the groove of how we mooove and cruuuuise with the boooooze around here. 
Oh lord. Stop me.
First order of business FRIED PICKLES FOR $3, exactly how they ought to be. I have tried and failed to perfect these at home- CAN'T DO IT! (but... the mistakes aren't  totally inedible...so I eat them anyway)
Also on the snakeria menu, $6 Bacalao Corn Fritters... salty, fried, dip'em YES!  Not to mention a completely illegal bacon wrapped dog and a Cheddar Bratwurst that comes with Fondue for $5!!! Open Mouth, insert cheese.

But what  about the booze babe? Sorry I just get so distracted by creatively fattening food.. 

CLEVERNESS: BEER CANS FOR THE WORKIN'  MAN $3, PBR ( of course)  Avery I PA, Tecate and a few others, and  there are a few glasses of wine you can get for $6 which is friendly. Atmosphere is pretty casual, sort of a spill over from VBW,  filled with todos los barrachos that I think have just gotten plain TIRED of the Other Room , who want to have their Happy Hour and enjoy it too!  The patio gets slammers come dinner time, so get your sweet butt in their before 7 to stake your claim at the bar and enjoy the calories on the CHEAP!

Ok, help me out here- I am getting confused....this place on Washington is named  Mercede's Grill, which should be pronounced (muurseds grill)  but everyone says Mercedes Grill (like the car- muursaadees grill) PLEASE  CLEAR THIS UP!!! does this belong to Mercede or is it a luxury car grill?

Moving on. Chi and I like to eat as much as we like to drink. PLEASE DO THIS HERE. The new Bin 73 attached directly to the questionably named joint above has Gjelina- standard food and a generous wine list AND A HAPPY HOUR. Whomever they've got back in the kitchen there is a rockstar: truffle oil & parmesean cheese fries, Ahi Tuna Sliders ( mango beautiful sauce), Buratta, arugula and procuitto salad- holy god try the gorgonzola-someothercheese and pear panini. We've also got  a  fondness for our neighbor and new friend Ryan who happens to have WINE SNOB tattood on his knuckles and is fighting off the cougers with both paws!> what is not to like about Bin 73? Nothing.  Happy hour specials below!  xo

I was pretty excited to go hang out at Salute last night- they've been promoting this special event: " Cash Door includes everything, worldly wine tasting and hors de ouevres" 7PM till Close was the timing, with live music and a fashion show. Let me tell you- Girls who would be models but like food and wine too much (me + Eva), still love to see a bit of chic sashaying, even if it is in a bar... so we were game for the whole lot.
I've been to Salute once, and it was very civilized and chic. Not tonight my dear! Eva and I paid $10 upon entry and got a magic marker X on our wrists. Guess what that got us? NOTHING. When I asked the gal at the door about the drink specials and tempting snacks, live music and models..she let me know that it was all over, we should have come earlier, they hit capacity already. When I asked why I paid $10- she motioned to the DJ, who was at that moment playing " Pour Some Sugar On Me" mixed straight into a Wilson Phillips song. Really? I should have right then asked for my money back, but as Eva had kindly fetched us two frosty glasses of Pinot Grigio, we waited out our drinks and watched the girls in short dresses take Gossip Girl-style pictures  in the banquet. Sad for Salute, I had high hopes, and I woke up this morning wanting my money back.

But there was a silver lining in the night after all- cause us girls refuse to give up! As we made our way over to Chloe, we passed the  Yard- and  here's a little happy hour info for ya: 5-7 PM $3 Beer, $5 margaritas, and killer $5 appetizers by one of the cleverist chefs on the West Coast.
